Look Up

I have been blessed with a wonderful friend who often calls me early in the morning. Our conversation usually goes like this:

Me (in a very groggy, sleepy voice): "Hellllloooo."

Friend (in an annoyingly cheerful voice): "Have you seen the sunrise this morning?"

Me (yawning): "mm.. well, no. Actually not. Is it up already?"

Friend: "Oh, walk outside and just take a look. You aren't going to believe how beautiful it is!"

Me: "Ummmm....I'm not exactly dressed to go outside this morning. I'll check it out in a while."

Friend: "Oh - you'll miss it! Go on outside - no one will see you! Hurry up! I'll wait for you!"

Me: "Oh brother. Okay. Wait a minute while I crawl out of my nice warm snuggly bed. Ouch! I just hit my toe. Oh wait, Josey needs to go outside, let me get her out of her kennel. Okay, we are near the back door. Okay, the door just opened. Whoa! That's a mighty cold blast of air there! Whew!"

Then I look up.

How very gracious of God to give me a friend who helps me not to miss the beauty of a sunrise.

That is real sweet of your friend. (I think) I am afraid I would be grouchy and maybe even crawl through the phone line and slap someone for waking me up too early. I am not a morning person, but she did help you see the beauty of the morning!

Isn't that wonderful?! I love that! A friend indeed!

And sorry for rubbing in the warm day. Actually it was only a high of 68 sunny degrees. And come June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct, and often even Nov, I will be wishing I lived up north for sure.

What a friend! However, a beautiful sunrise is a wonderful sight. At least, that's what I remember from the time in my life that I woke up in time to see them! :-)

I need a lot of nudging to get out of bed at that time of day. But it's well worth it, isn't it?

I am definitely a sunrise kind of person. I'm glad your friend helped you notice it at least once in awhile! Great story.

I love this! A 'half-full' friend, I call mine my "personal cheerleader' - she's upbeat every single day and a huge blessing to everyone who spends time with her. Sounds about like your friend.
