The Sweetness of it All

Sometimes there are just no words to describe the cuteness.

Instead there is an overwhelming presence of sweetness and you think that if you dare to breathe it might just all disappear.

So you hold your breath with all your strength until you feel you might explode.

And when your breath bursts forth from your body you close your eyes until you can't take it anymore and then you squint ever so slightly to see that God truly has blessed you with the most awesome of gifts. . .

. . .a grandchild.

Inspiration

Today I ran into the fabric store because I needed to find some thread to hem a pair of Jess's jeans - she is going back to school this weekend.

I haven't been in the fabric store for many months probably because I have been going to yarn shoppe's lately instead. But walking into the fabric store caused a magical thing to happen. It ignited a spark. I walked along the rows of fabric allowing my hand to gently rub against each one much like a playing card attached in the spokes of a bicycle wheel. The earthy smell of new textiles wafted to my nostrils. I began seeing the fabric made up into different projects.

I made my way back to the home decor fabrics. And I bought a piece of this yardage.

For a special project I found in this book.

And while I was at the cutting counter I found this fabric. Although I have no idea what I'm going to do with it, I bought a yard of it just because it makes me happy when I look at it. Do you have any ideas?

I think I see some sewing in my very near future (like this weekend :))

And It Isn't Even About the Donuts

Hi. I'm Robin. It's nice to meet you. I used to be a pretty regular blogger here at the Robinznest. But you wouldn't know that by my lack of posts lately.

Actually this last break was unintended. I have spent the last few days in Boston to attend my daughter's graduation from grad school.

Among various other things, our hotel didn't have internet. Note to self: be very careful securing hotels over the internet.

Having never been to Boston before, we took several days to tour the sights. We had a wonderful time and I will be posting more about it soon.

But for now I am exhausted and I think I will need about a month to recuperate from my mini-vacation which included a seven hour drive to the airport, a red-eye flight, amazing food, a musical scene on the street that came straight out of Italy, and more American History than I ever learned in high school. I will leave you with these pictures from our sight-seeing.

I know.

I thought it was odd too.

You find these all over the city of Boston. And I do mean All Over.

And everyone tells me it's not about the donuts. It's all about the coffee.

Go figure.

I'm going to bed now.

It IS Crazy!

So I have always heard about those women who use coupons to save money. I have seen them on tv and wondered how in the world they buy $546.27 of groceries for $23.65. I've always thought it was probably a one time event that you had to spend countless hours to achieve.

I was wrong.

I now have a new hobby.

Just by chance I found a blog that a lady from my area keeps on her coupon endeavors. After reading her posts for a few days I decided to test the waters. I deliberately chose to try couponing at only one store. I wanted to see if it really works and honestly, I just don't have the time to do more than that.

What I have done has amazed me.

Just today I bought this:

I spent $10.22 and I saved $47.08.

My second purchase today was this:

I spent $2.12. Can you belive it?

So today I spent $12.42 on $118.70 worth of groceries.

In the last couple of weeks, here are some of the other things I have purchased for next to nothing.

I never buy anything we wouldn't normally buy/use and I go shopping on my lunch hour so I don't give up any of my time at home.

You can go visit The Krazy Coupon lady too. She does all the work figuring out the deals. All you have to do is cut coupons and save money!
