New Resolve

Okay, I'm done with this fooling around business. I have had to face the reality that in 5 weeks I have not lost any weight and I have only been fooling myself into thinking I am doing a good job. The hard truth is that in this 5 week period I have only lost ONE pound. I am ashamed. But I am not giving up. And here is my new plan.

FOR ONE WEEK I PROMISE TO:

1. Write down every point I eat. Every single one. Even the creamer in my coffee.
2. I promise to drink two glasses of water a day. This is two more than I normally drink.
3. I promise to walk 5 days this week. I promise.

Hopefully, next week I will have something positive to report. Please help keep me accountable and ask me during the week if I am sticking to my promises. I really, really want to do this.

You are a smart woman Robin. It's much better to set goals you can achieve rather than goals you know you can't. Sure we all know we're "supposed" to drink eight glasses of water a day, but if that's not realistic for you (not for me either) don't set yourself up to fail at it.
I hope you have a good week Robin, anytime you feel you need a little extra encouragement or it you want to vent I'm here.

I'm tired just reading your regimen. But I know you can do it! And hey, one pound is more than a lot of us lost last month so don't be TOO hard on yourself! I loved reading about your vacation. So glad you had that time away with your family. There's nothing more special. Your quips about the alligators and hair cracked me up! But the downloaded episode of Lost takes the cake!

Your plan sounds good for this week. I have also started with some baby steps and then will go from there.

Good luck this week!

Hey Robin,
You can do it! Drinking the water alone will help you feel better, even if you aren't feeling bad. I really need to start drinking water more regularly too! Maybe I'll take that part of your weekly goal on also...at least 2 glasses a day. I'll let you know how it goes!
Have a great day!

Robin, we're here for you and know you can DO IT! Making goals is a great step and putting them in writing does help us feel more accountable. Water intake really helps a LOT! Getting dehydrated often feels like hunger.

I am a HUGE water drinker but that has not always been so. About 8 years ago I started for health reasons. I set a similar goal as yours but did it by time. I promised to drink one bottle of water between breakfast and lunch, one between lunch and dinner, and one after dinner.

It worked! And since it is an acquired habit it has stuck with me. I wake up thirsty and have a bottle of water now before I even drink my coffee.

Find what works ... baby steps ... and add to it. You can do this, Robin. WE can do this.

thanks so much for the comment you left. I appreciate all of the help I can get at this point. Good luck on your dieting. I had to stop focusing and reporting. I have lost a total of 5 lbs but I have alot of stress trying to finish school!

Okay, I'm with you on #2 and #3, except that I'll be going to Curves for some of the exercise. One of my big goals on water is to have half my water (32 oz) before I allow myself to have a soda. The second part of that is no more than one soda in a day (or even none!). So there's my One Week Promise. I'll be sure to see how you're doing. Feel free to check up on me as well. :D

You can totally do this--way to go in writing down your goals for the week. How's today going?!?! And seriously, one pound is one pound. Better it be gone than not! Don't beat yourself up too much!

You are doing better than I. I haven't even been willing to try to get back on the band wagon. I'm praying though. I'll be praying for you too Robin, you can do this!

And thanks for stopping by!

Hey Robin,
You can do this. Sometimes putting a bit of lemon in my iced water, or just drinking hot lemon water or herbal teas help me get the water "quota" in. When you walk, can you pray or wear an MP3 player of your favorite tunes. I like to look for ways to decrease the drudgery. And...sometimes it's just hard. I get it. I struggle, too. I'm glad we all have each other.
